Obama's Stimulus Plan Edition of What I've Been Reading

There's been quite a bit of reaction to Obama's proposed stimulus plan.

Blogging Stocks writes about The problem with Obama's stimulus plan:

I agree with Obama, for whom I volunteered in the recent election, that a stimulus bill is needed. The question is the cost. Since the first bill did not do much for the economy, will the new one need to be twice as large to get lasting impact? Three times? Ten times? The numbers get truly frightening considering we will probably need other jolts to the economy as well.

Jake Tapper at ABC News writes about the political implications of the proposed stimulus plan and how things may play out on Capital Hill:

Some Democratic officials cautioned that having such a pricey bill on President Obama's desk by Jan. 20 might be too ambitious a goal, especially in the Senate where Democrats do not have enough seats to prevent a Republican filibuster.

While MSN's Smart Spending blog posits that the current low price of gas is an economic stimulus for your wallet.

Lower fuel costs are having another beneficial impact on consumers. Airline tickets, which soared on rising jet fuel costs, are falling now that fuel costs are coming down. The average airline ticket was down nearly 5% in the last month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
